Description

"If you are interested in working with dreams with clients, this workshop will give you the confidence, knowledge and skills to develop your practice." - Event Attendee

Please note that if you are in crisis this workshop will not be suitable for you.

What are dreams?
The answer from science is that sleep has several phases of activity that recurs periodically in Rapid Eye Movement (REM). This is when the eyes dart about under the eyelids and the respiratory rate changes. Science offers no satisfactory far less a consensus assessment of the dream’s function.

But what of the art of dreaming?
If we spend a third of our life in sleep and a quarter of sleep in dreaming, we might do well to come up with our own answers, from experience. If you feel stuck in your life or your work, dreams can mainline the cause and the solution from your unconscious. You will learn your own dream symbols and images and gain insight into your inner life.

Who this workshop is aimed at
This workshop is for anyone who is interested in their dreams, as well as for therapists to learn how to incorporate it in their practice.

Why you should attend
Most people are intrigued by their dreams and  want to understand what they are trying to tell the dreamer. For the therapist, knowing your own dream lexicon and associations will sharpen your hearing of your client’s dream and perhaps move the work out of a stuck place.

Other instructions
Please be advised that dreamwork can be very powerful so that those who are in a vulnerable place should not attend this workshop.

Keep a notebook and pen by your bed to record any dreams you have, noting the date and what happened in the previous twenty-four hours paying attention to sensory details eg colour.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR - CHRISTINE MEEK

course image

Christine trained forty years ago with Dr. Winifred Rushforth in dreamwork and with Dr. Diana Bates at Wellspring in a Jungian/Humanistic approach, extending her training for a further two terms of training in Wellness. Finding dreams an invaluable guide, she studied a further two years in a Jungian dream group. She continues to use dreamwork in her practice daily and to maintain her own wellness.

By chance, the therapeutic use of Russian Dolls emerged in her work with an American client and she developed an additional model over the next year or so.

Some further years into her practice she attended a summer school on Transactional Analysis and, from an experience there that changed her awareness, she developed Eric Berne’s model using colour association and a hula hoop!

These three tools, along with her humanistic training, form the cornerstone of Christine’s approach to working with every new person who comes into the room.
